“ To be at an unknown distance from the dwellings of man…and to lie at night in a blanket, with your feet to a fire, with your rifle hugged in your arms, listening to the howling wolves, and starting at the shriek of the terrible panther; This it is to be in a wilderness alone“ E P Fordham 1817 The Frontier exists at the edge of the civilization; a wide-open land of unlimited opportunity and the meeting point between savagery and civilization. The Autumn / Winter 2025 collection takes us back to the 18th century when man sought a romantic vision of an Arcadian past, when heroes of an age of innocence bestrode the earth; and it sought meaning in direct and personal confrontation with the natural world. The West itself was Arcadia, a land before the Fall, the virginal creation of God, filled with mythic heroes of the sublime horizon. The untamed land was a siren song to them. “ The muse of this collection is the 18th century girl who left her homeland with elusive dreams and hope of a better future. Little did she know of the horror that that hides in freedoms shadow and the sacrifices made to the land. For her freedom was riding wild over the untamed land with no notion any moment exists beyond the one you are living. Her faith and spiritualism become one with the wilderness as she passes through the vastness of the Plains and Rockies “ With the contrasting elements of dark and light, the collection tells a story mirroring the conflicting themes of hope and loss, beauty and horror. White angelic gowns in silk and tulle represents the innocence and faith at the beginning of the journey; the black creations symbolize the mysterious wilderness in the dark of the night. Crystals and embellishments reflect the stars guiding their way, while traditional French lace illustrates patterns of the past. Hand crafted heavenly flowers and soft shades of pales embodies the romantic horizon whilst the signature braided leather with fringes reminds us that we are sharing the prairies with millions of wild bison’s roaming the land.
